Kentucky Derby
2020 Run for the Roses is Sept. 5th

The 146th Kentucky Derby will be run this Saturday, September 5th, at Churchill Downs in Louisville, KY. Post time is 7:00 PM ET.  The forecast calls for partly cloudy conditions (5-10% chance of rain), so the track should be fast.

Due to Covid-19, this year’s Run for the Roses will not have spectators in the stands but will remain the traditional length of 1 1/4 miles.  Normally the first leg of the Triple Crown, this year the Derby follows the Belmont Stakes, which was run in June on a shorter track.  The Preakness, normally the second leg, will be run third this year and is scheduled for October 3rd from Pimlico in Baltimore.
