WSOP Releases 2012 Schedule
The 43rd annual World Series of Poker schedule has been officially announced, with 61 bracelet events running from May 27th - July 16th. This years series will look to improve upon previous years, by offering a wider array of events, more bracelets, and more dedicated cash game tables.
New Events for 2012 include:
Event #3 - $3,000 Heads-Up NL Hold'em / PL Omaha
Event #6 - $5,000 Mix-Max NL Hold'em - This tournament will feature 9-handed play on Day 1, 6-handed play on Day 2, and the final 32 will be played out in a heads-up format.
Event #28 - $2,500 Four-Handed NL Hold'em - There are now 9-handed, 6-handed, 4-handed, and heads-up events at the World Series of Poker
Event #49 - $1,500 Ante Only NL Hold'em - This tournament will NOT feature any small or big-blinds... JUST antes.
Event #55 - $1,000,000 NL Hold'em Big One for One Drop - This new event will shatter previous records for the largest buy-in tournament. 11.1% of the prize pool going to the charity organization 'One Drop'.
There will also be a few changes made to the $10,000 buy-in Main Event (#61). With the added poker tables, the WSOP has decided to reduce the Main Event to 3 Day 1's (reduced from 4 in previous years). Also, there will not be a November Nine this year -- the final table has been moved up a week to October 28th to account for the upcoming US Presidential Election.
This year the World Series will also feature smaller buy-in events ($1,500 Saturdays, $1,000 Sundays) every weekend, catering towards those not able to play during the week.
