Belmont Stakes June 20th
The 152nd Belmont Stakes will take place this Saturday, June 20th, at Belmont Park in Elmont, NY. Post time is 5:42PM ET. The forecast calls for partly cloudy conditions, so the track should be fast.
Being run without spectators in the stands, this year’s race will be 1⅛ miles instead of the usual mile and a half, making it the shortest of the three Triple Crown races.
This is the first time in history that the Belmont will be the opening leg of the Triple Crown, as it usually runs third, following the Kentucky Derby and The Preakness. The Kentucky Derby, traditionally held on the first Saturday in May, will take place at Churchill Downs in Kentucky on Sept. 5th this year, with the Preakness to follow on Oct 3rd at Pimlico in Baltimore.
