Maryland Sees The Launch Of Bally Bet

The sports betting app Bally Bet launched on Monday, marking the formal opening of the company in Maryland.

The operator leaves Massachusetts and arrives in Maryland not long after. Nine states, including Arizona, New York, Ohio, and Virginia, currently offer Bally Bet.

Bally Bet's sports betting future remains somewhat questionable despite its recent expansion. In the states where it operates, the operator has had difficulty increasing its market share. It is noteworthy that out of the nine sports betting companies in New York, it is in the bottom three, and it is unlikely that the betting app will take on DraftKings and FanDuel in Maryland.

Bally's and Standard General came to an agreement to buy Bally's last week, though it's unclear what this implies for Bally's online sports betting business going forward.

This summer, changes in Maryland's sports betting market are expected due to the entry of multiple operators.

Beginning in July, Veterans Services Corporation released a betting app; nonetheless, the operator provided dubious odds and a bewildering user experience. In a state dominated by DraftKings and FanDuel, the betting app has a long way to go before gaining any traction.

In the near future, Betr—which has had difficulty gaining market share in the states in which it operates—also plans to move into Maryland. The operator is almost ready for launch, though the official go-live date has not yet been made public. The operator went through multiple regulatory phases in the state.

SuperBook Sports is departing Maryland due to poor financial performance, despite the fact that there are new competitors in the state's mobile betting sector. The operator had the second-lowest sports betting handle among the state's mobile betting apps in June, with less than $500,000.

Despite a marketing relationship with the Baltimore Orioles that included SuperBook-branded restaurant at Camden Yards and signage on the team's scoreboard, the operator failed to attract significant interest in Maryland.

SuperBook has made the decision to concentrate primarily on its physical venues in Nevada and is drastically cutting back on its online sports betting activities throughout the United States.
