Prime Time for TNF

Amazon’s Prime Video will begin its exclusive streaming deal for Thursday Night Football on August 25th with the preseason matchup between the 49ers & Texans.  The first regular season game will be September 15th with Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs hosting the LA Chargers at Arrowhead Stadium.  This is the first year in Amazon’s 11-year deal with the NFL to be the exclusive home for Thursday Night Football, which it previously shared with the Fox Network.  Local broadcast stations for the teams will also be able to air the games in their home markets.  Coverage will begin each Thursday at 7PM ET, with kick-off around 8PM ET.  Each game will be followed by the “TNF Postgame Show” and  “TNF Nightcap”.

Amazon also plans on adding new features to their NFL broadcasts, including real-time stats while you watch.  To faciliatate these stats, players will wear uniforms enhanced with Amazon Web Services chips, allowing for instant updates.  Plus, Amazon will be giving Prime Members the choice to watch, record or start from the beginning of the game, along with the option of recording the entire season.

Besides the price tag of One Billion Dollars per year for the streaming rights, Amazon has also hired legendary play-by-play announcer Al Michaels at a reported $15 million per year.

Amazon has also commissioned a new theme song from Pinar Toprak, who composed the main theme for Captain Marvel.  Here’s a link to the video.
